The best medicine in the Bay Area
I travel up to the Bay Area frequently as I am a musician. I have been to over 30 dispensaries from San Francisco to Oakland and San Jose in search of premium grade medicine.
When it comes to the highest quality medicine the recently opened The Portal Herbal Health Collective in San Jose is hands down the best. They only carry premium and top shelf at incredible prices.
Their $30 value pack is the best deal by far anywhere. Its all premium and top-shelf buds - the small size buds. There's over 3.5 grams in the pack. I picked up value packs of PK and Jack Herrer. They looked great and the aroma was delicious. I smoked in a pipe and they were both smooth and the best PKs and Jack's that I have had as small buds.
I also picked up Cherry Pie that I have never seen at any other dispensary. Its one of the premium grade strains that PHHC grows. I was speechless when I saw the buds and took a whiff!! This is mind blowingly great. If you have not tried Cherry Pie - run don't walk to The PHHC.
They also have Paradise Kush, Bubba Kush, Purple Diesel, PK among others.
The location is very convenient off Trade Zone and Ringwood in San Jose in a nice and clean single story commercial complex with plenty of parking.
The office is very clean and safe with security and the sign-up and id verification is quick and easy. The dispensary area is still under construction but very clean and Moe the master bud tender who is also a master grower and strain developer is unbelievably knowledgeable. He spent a fair amount of time with me helping me through my selection and educating me about growing clones.
Compared to the 30 other dispensaries I have been to in the Bay Area, The PHHC is my all time favorite since its all about the highest grade medicine at the best value. That's why I go to a dispensary.

I have been back a few times. This dispensary does not disappoint. I recently picked up their Platinum OG Kush. It was sooo good!

Amazing medicine and service!
I checked out this dispensary last week as they were close to my place of work and they were new. They were also giving away a free gram when you sign-up.
Dude! They have the best ganja in town. PK and Cherry Pie I had never seen before. They were the best buds I have seen in a very long time and I could not wait to try it when I got home. I can report that PK had a very clean flavor and it comes on real smooth.
The bud tenders were amazing - very helpful and they focused on me and what my needs were.
Signup was quick and easy and the gal was real nice too. Real easy location to get to from 880. Highly recommend this place if you want some quality ganja.ganjavet -
Canna Doc recommends The Portal
I got turned on to The Portal from one of my patients who has great taste for medicine. So - I took the long drive south to San Jose to check it out.
The Portal Herbal Health Collective is easy to get to and has ample parking. It is a nice commercial location and the parking lot is well lit. Very discrete. Very safe.
The greeter wanded me with a nice smile and a welcoming vibe. The member signup was quick and no hassle. All I needed was my patient card and driver license.
I must confirm what my patient said - the bud master was the most knowledgeable that I have met in the bay area. He not only knew in detail how each of the strains were grown and under what conditions but spent some time with me discussing all the therapeutic effects. Since I am a doc this was the most refreshing aspect. Many of my patients ask me for strain recommendations for their specific ailment condition. Believe me, I know that the same strain grown under different conditions will not be the same. That is why it is so important for collectives to have a bud master that is also a master grower. Compared to every other club in the bay area I have visited where mostly they have bud tenders that have just superficial knowledge, The Portal Herbal Health Collective has a super experienced bud master that is also a master grower and strain developer.
It was clear when I inspected the buds and did my smell test that this was some of the best quality buds that I have seen in the bay area. I now know that The Portal's tag line "Only the highest grade medicine here!" was not a marketing slogan but a reality. They had a very nice selection of premium and top-shelf and also had edibles and drinks. They had strains that I have not seen at any of the other clubs. I had to leave with eigths of a few different strains.
I can confirm after medicating that the Platinum OG that I got beats every OG I have used. It was so smooth and the feeling came on so cleanly. Their Champagne which I tried for the first time since I have never seen it anywhere else was just like a champagne drink with the finest of bubbles, incredibly refined in its taste and effects! I also tried their Blueberry Kush which was infused with blueberry smells as I smoked in my pipe - the best Blueberry Kush I have tried.
For me The Portal is my new go to club for all my medicine needs - although I have to drive nearly 2 hours to get there. That's how good their product is! I have no reservations recommending this club to everyone here at WeedMaps.canna_doc -
Best meds in town!
I have been to The Portal 3 times already! They only opened a month ago. Thats how jazzed I am about this place.
I am not one to care so much about the atmosphere of a place but The Portal is in a great safe location that is easy to get to. I go for the best meds at the best price with a hassle free intake process.
The Portal does not keep a large menu. They only have premium and top shelf meds. They are just beautiful. Well cured nice buds with great smell. All well priced.
They offer a $30 value pack which is over 3.5g of baby buds - the best value that I have seen in town.
I have tried their PK, Platinum OG, Cherry Pie and last week tried their White Widow and Rhino Wreck which really sat me down for a bit. Many of these meds are not to be found at any other club. Its worth the trip just to get them.

Cherry Pie with Ice Cream is da bomb :)
As a female its tough going out to get meds so when a friend suggested I try out this new club I thought OK its just like all the others that I have been to.
Yesterday I happened to be in San Jose and on a whim decided to go The Portal Herbal Health Collective. It was a perfect location right next to the Silicon Valley Research Center in a nice classy and quiet commercial area. There was plenty of parking in the large lot.
Intake was quick. The staff were very friendly and informative and really spent time discussing my needs and showing me all the meds they had.
I left with Cherry Pie which the bud tender told me with a smile did not come with ice cream! When I got home I got out Cherry Garcia from the freezer and lit me a bowl of Cherry Pie. It was the most relaxing experience I have had in a long time.
I now have a reason to drive out to San Jose. To all the folks at TPHHC high five and thanks for making my experience da bomb!!!!!dianar -
Wonderful Collective
I've been to Portal a couple times and I can definitely recommend this place.
BUD QUALITY:
The quality of the medicine is the most important thing to me when I visit a collective and Portal really stands out. Here's a quick rundown of the buds I've tried-
Purple Kush ($60) green hue with just a hint of purple, which is a good sign in my books. Nice kushy aroma with a sweet taste. Strong medicine. This one is a solid "A" grade bud.
Cherry Pie ($50) has an aroma true to the name, so I can understand the appeal. However, the buds from the batch I got were a little bit leafy and dry. I'll give it a "B"
Champagne ($60) PHENOMENAL version of champagne. Long perfectly cured buds that smell like heaven. Beautiful. Nice relaxing uplifting effect for me. A+
Blue Dream ($55) It's a pretty common strain and I've sampled it at a number of different places, but Portal's was the best blue dream I've ever tried. Was sticky when I broke it apart. Great effect too. A++
Blueberry Kush ($60) Dense, heavy, large nuggets. Perfectly trimmed and glistening with trichomes. Smells like a warm blueberry pastry. Relaxing. This one deserves another A+
ATMOSPHERE:
Clean, good location, easy parking, friendly door staff, and the registration process was simple. Like other collectives in the area, it has kind of a corporate office space feel to it. No complaints.
STAFF:
Orville has been an absolute pleasure to work with. He's very personable and provided both my friend and me with great service.
PRICE:
I don't mind paying $50 - $60 per eighth if the quality is outstanding. Portal meets that criteria without a doubt. I'd give them 5 stars if they'd offer a nice discount for mid-to-larger purchases. If I buy 2 or 3 eighths at the same time, it would be nice to see the price scale down a bit.particle420 -
Fishy
This club was always a bit of a mystery to me. By the first day or two, Portal had 2 perfect ratings on WeedMaps. I thought, hey, lets give this place a shot. Unfortunately, this place is a huge let down and it makes me wonder how Portal has ever received high reviews. That should be suspect...
The parking here is pretty good, but honestly, I don't go to clinics for the parking. The atmosphere itself isn't too bad either being located in a nice business park.
The price is steep especially for the quality this place claims they have. Up to $65 an eighth for what I consider mid-grade bud is simply not competitive when you have some pretty amazing strains at higher quantities and lower prices coming out of the clinics throughout the area. I also want to say that NONE of their strains are unique. Everything, including the Cherry Pie, can be found all over the South Bay and San Francisco/Oakland.
The Staff is a joke. The guy hadn't a clue what was going on in the clinic and had nothing to say about strain lineages. Also, who still medicates while on the job? How unprofessional!
Look, im not out to get Portal, but my experience does not jive with anything positive said about this place on WeedMaps. Beware of this club.faraday -
Blue dream high!
Went to Portal to check them after the good reviews here at Weedmap.
The reviewers were right on. This is the place for the best weed. I have been to many clubs but this is a clean, easy club with only high grade meds.
I like meds that give me a nice head high while I can still go about what I am doing. No couch lock for me unless I really need it. The bud tender was real good. I explained what I wanted and he quickly pointed me to several strains that fit my description. I then spent some time looking at all the crystals and smelling the weed. I left with Blue Dream and PK. The PK is closer to couch lock for some but for me was perfect. Blue Dream couldn't have been better. Just what I needed. Nice head high with my body all energetic.
A plus was the easy parking and nice business location. Perfect as I came from work in a suit. I understand that these clubs are rather subjective but for working professionals like me Portal is great - clean, discrete, knowledgeable staff and quick turnaround. No need to hang out. Get real high quality meds and move on.

Portal...
Bud quality: Just alright. I only come for the $30-35 dollar small bud value packs.
Atmosphere: Simple.
Staff:1 guard (not the most attentive) 1 receptionist (beautiful and intelligent) and 1 budtender (semi-knowledgeable). I was told three times during my visit that I should ask their grower (not there) about the strain genetics. I expect the budtender IN FRONT OF ME to know what the medicine is, not some mysterious off-site bud farmer.
Parking: ample, in a semi-abandoned commercial complex.

"eh" meaning...I probably won't be back because there are so many better dispensaries out there. The "wandsman" and greeter were polite, but the budmaster seemed to think he knew more than I did and suggested meds that didn't make sense for my particular condition. Their Blue Dragon bud didn't seem nearly as good as the Blue Dragon that I've had.

Cool but I want an explanation
Nice little club with a small but quality selection. The majority of the bud here is high grade/top shelf and at $60 plus tax. Very expensive. I've picked up a few eighths and I've noticed some particular strain's outer side have busted trichomes. It seems as if they were overhandled. When compared to inside of the buds I expect the outer side to be covered in crystals. It's still good bud, but I find this lack of kief/trichomes quite peculiar. My only theory is the bud was transported in a truck with block wheels.

I recommend The Portal Herbal Health Collective
as the best dispensary in the Bay Area. They should get the highest rating because:
# 1: The quality of their medicine is so good. It is strong and lasts with a good high.
# 2: The price is a little higher than some,but the quality makes it worth it, and it is not the most expensive.
# 3: The convenience is simple. The staff and parking and location are fine.
I have been to the top fifteen of the seventy dispensaries in Santa Clara County since they reopened in November 2009 and The Portal Herbal Health Collective is the best. San Francisco, Oakland, San Mateo, and Santa Cruz dispensaries are not worth visiting. I know, since I have seen most of them.
Also, The Portal has been consistently the only one that does not run out of a strain that I really want. I like their PK the best, and the Platinum OG. They also have Platinum Bubba, Rhino Wreck, Romulan, Bubba Kush and great PK hash.
I must say that this place does not get much business and to keep a great place like this in business, I hope everyone will check this place out and try what they have !bluestarsman -

HONEST OPINION
This place is in a nice area, with plenty of near by parking. The staff is friendly and professional and do what they can to help you however they can. Very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. They have bargain bags as well as to shelf meds and everything in between. This is one of the only clubs I've been to that has several different types of bargain bags that are actually good meds. Everything from purp mini nugs at 8ths for 30, and GREAT SHAKE called THE BAKERS MIX for even less. HONESTLY best shake I've found, most value options I've seen also. So if your a heavy smoker on a budget check these guys out. dude who posted earlier was right the girl in the front aint hard to look at.

Budtender was so chill...
Loved the place. I went in on New Years Eve. I was greeted at the door by a NICE SECURITY GUARD. Yeah. A NICE one. He actually spoke to me like a human being and didn't try to act like some high and mighty secret service member. Went in, got verified VERY quickly. The waiting room was chill. Nothing over the top. Real simple. Couches, water, magazines. Got verified, and was greeted at the entrance to the medroom by a polite man by the name or Orville(Sorry if i spelled it wrong, bro!). Here's where it gets good. The bud here was KILLER. The white widow looked like a snowball. Completely WHITE with a hint of green. As I was browsing the selection, I noticed something VERY strange about this particular collective. I WASN'T BEING RUSHED! Now, this may come as a surprise to many of you, but YES. There exists a budtender that actually KNOWS WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT AND CARES ABOUT THE PATIENT. I engaged in at least a twenty minute conversation with Orville, and came to the conclusion that he is one of the chillest budtenders I have ever met. I ended up choosing the value pack which surprised me to say the least. Yeah, small buds, somewhat shakey, but this stuff is CRAZY. I believe its high grade to top shelf? I'm not sure. But according to last night, I would definitely say TOP SHELF. Orville also threw in a free gram of top shelf PK. Holy hell. To everyone reading this review, BUY THE PK OR WHITE WIDOW. You won't be disappointed. Orville knew a lot about the different strains and effects and which is good for a certain ailment. Having VERY heavy shoulder pains, he advised me to stop using topicals(which can get very expensive sometimes) and start using heavy indicas. I absolutely LOVED the place. If you go to harborside, spend another 3 cents of gas and check this place out(they're on the same street).

This place is dope. First time going to this club. Got greeted by the staff who were all cool people. The front desk lady was looking good. The dude helping me out with the product was legit. I picked up some PK and Blue Dream from this spot and it was some wicked chronic. I recommend this place. the White Widow and Purple Diesel that looked and smelled bomb and other danky buds too. There was a nice selection of edibles. Im gonna go to this club again

Good Bud , Little pricey
Short and Simple is how I like to make a review. . I am with the other guy a few reviews down, when I signed up I practically had to guilt him into giving me a gram for signing up. Also, I do not know how any co op sells ANY strain for over 50$ a 1/8th even then that is pushing it if you ask me.. medicating myself for the last 20 years to deal with HORRIBLE PTSD and Insomnia from hell , I find the price getting seriously out of hand. lets hope for price reform in the future! Great bud, Over Priced . no wonder no one was EVER there when I came to shop.. other places have lines out the door.

Very friendly people, good quality medicine, but the prices are too high. Hopefully prices go down. The best part of this place is the location. Very close to where I work.

Not A Bad Dispensary
I tried a gram of their Snow Cap, White Widow, and a few variety bags, as well as one of their edibles. The cookie sandwich was delicious and I want another. I don't know that it hit stupidly hard, but it was great. The snow cap didn't do much for me, the variety i smoked king sized J's of at a time to get high, but the white widow was great. I honestly think it smelled and looked like champagne, but that's fine. Nothing's appropriately named anymore. It was great, got a head-throbbing high, which was great. I like feeling waves of highness. At 20 a gram, it was really expensive, but quality. He threw me a G of PK which I honestly rolled into a fat blunt just to down, cause it didn't smoke too well for my taste, but I really appreciate the sample.
I also bought a strawberry cough clone, which is doing alright. Had it for 9 days and it's gotten a little bigger. Most of the products are high priced, but the quality of their best strains are great. If you want to save money, try elsewhere. If you want to cash big on quality, grab their white widow.MarkDoesWork -

ok for a year now i never knew about this placei had seen the signs but never cought on to that this place is not harbor side... so i had to check this placeout since i like to check out new clubs alot..
first off this place was some what hard to find i had to drive around twice to find this place i even back tracked to look at the sign.. but its well worth it.. this place is a gold mine in herbal medication.. the staff is great the front door man was very chilled and not looking at me like he is some top guard like at harborside..i am comparing the 2 culbs since they are so close to each other..
the i was quickly verified by the woman and boom i was in.. i looked around for a little bit i even called out the budtenders medication out asked him why his stuff looks so brown.. he pulls out 3 bags and out came some nice moist buds not all dried out like the HS.. each bag he pulled out was all like that ..after a few min of bs. he directs me to some killer buds budah this budtender knows his stuff and he dosnt rush you he treats you like a real person and not some $$$.. i was very shocked to not be rushed..befor i left Portal Herbal Health Collective he told me come back wed and we will have some buds called wow.. so again i dropped in to see whats up with this strain to see if he was bull shitting.. all i can say is wow this strain is on hit he was not bs at all.. this place is straight forward with you and they even back thier word when i called them out..dud im telling you this place is killer but its a bite up scale in price an 1/8 of wow ran me $68 bucks thats rounding it off oafter taxes.. yes we have to payduble taxes for medication in san jose..passed this year so dont be shocked with the price.. but over all this place is great i would really recomend this place aske them to see the wow its killer...

Hard to Find! Kinda Pricy, But Great Weed!
just came back from Portal Herbal Health Collective, this place was great but it was also hard to find. Its on a court not a main street. All their medications smelled potent and looked very fresh. The Wow is great recommend grabbing at least a gram. Good varieties on edibles, and the staff was great. Will be back to this place very soon.

I have been going to Portal exclusively for over 6 months and I am never disapointed.
It is secluded, which I appreicate. The staff are all excellent and professional.
They all know my name and
are glad to see me. Orville (budtender) is the best, and often gives me samples of upcoming buds.
They have excellent quality buds. The budlets are
great deals. This is a small club, with excellent service. I feel very comfortable there and I like that
I am supporting a small business that is doing everything the right way.
They have recently dropped their prices (due the the city tax). Their prices are very reasonable.

Awesome dispensary for premium flowers!
I usually don't review a dispensary until I've visited it at least a couple of times. But I'm making an exception for this one, because my experience there during my first visit was just THAT good.
I'll start with the only two possible negatives I can come up with at all for this place: premium prices definitely apply, and their overall selection of strains is a little smaller than some of the bigger clubs. But that's really it. Everything else here is stellar, and I think this is going to become one of my favorite go-to spots going forward.
Ok, and I guess the other thing to point out is that they do have a security guard out front who uses a wand to check you for weapons. This is the only club I've been to that does this. Plenty have security guards and metal detectors, though, just no wand. It's all the same and doesn't bother me in the least, but I know some folks are more sensitive about this kind of thing than others, and felt it fair to at least mention.
Now on to the many positives about this dispensary...
The location is tucked in amidst some other businesses and is very clean, safe, and professional. It can be a bit tough to find the first time, but just look for the security guard sitting out front. Once you know where it is, it's easy.
The facilities are clean and new inside, just like you're going to a brand new doctor's office. The staff is excellent, very friendly and helpful. And the new patient paperwork is probably the shortest I've seen. Only one person is allowed in the bud room at a given time and the budtender, Orville, is one of the best I've had the pleasure to meet. The guy knows his cannabis and provides helpful instructions when you ask for them, or simply allows you to check out the goods on your own if you prefer.
Speaking of the goods: they're really the reason this place is already near the top of my favorites list. While the strain selection here seems relatively small and prices are on the high side, everything they have looks super high quality. It's not like some places where you have a ton of medicine to choose from, but some of it is great while some of it is bammer. Here, there is a smaller menu of items to choose from, but ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING on it looked and smelled great. I ended up picking up an 8th each of the Wow, White Widow, and Ken's Grandaddy Purple. After trying some of each, I can say that all three are top notch quality wise and well worth the money. It's rare that I can buy three strains from the same club on the same day and have all of it be killer, but that's what I got here.
And finally a few brief comments about the strains I tried... The White Widow just looks stunning visually. It's frosty white and the nugs are HUGE. I'm usually not a big sativa fan, and hesitated on picking any up, but am glad I did. It definitely produces a cerebral high more than any bodily effects though. The Wow is potent and I loved it!!! For me it produced strong indica effects with nice body relaxation but didn't completely knock me out. I could still get around just fine but was definitely feeling much more sedated. Lastly, Ken's GDP: to be perfectly honest, I can't say that I noticed it being orders of magnitude better than other GDP or anything night-and-day like that (but to be honest I probably got my hopes up too high from reading Internet lore about it). It's definitely some of the best GDP I've smoked in a long time, though, and I highly recommend it for any purple lovers.
In a nutshell: this is a smallish club in an area with many other clubs. I drove past it many times en route to other spots without paying any attention. But it's worth checking out. You may be very pleasantly surprised like I was. The buds are truly, truly top quality so long as you've got some scratch to pony up for it. And even if you're on budget, you've still got to grab at least a gram of the White Widow if you're a sativa lover and gram of the Wow if you're an indica lover, just to try out some really potent hard-to-find medicine!SomeDude78 -
A Must Visit
This place is awesome.Its a place to buy your QUALITY MED.My health matters to me and if i get the BEST,i would definately visit here again n again.Their white widow and its da bomb and as advertised.Did you guys read their site YES THEY PAY ALL LOCAL SALES TAX ,so it was a deal for me. I would purchase something with quality rather than any bs.What is not high this days,gas prices are sky rocketing and people keep complaining about it but still needs the fuel,so likewise pay for something that is wellworth for your health buddies.They do have varieties of buds that suits your budget.Place is clean and SECURE,transactions are a breeze and service is great.This place has upscale products and not your trashable dollar deal stuff.Check it out yourself!!!

Just "OK" buds, great staff that is very friendly
Wasn't overly impressed with their quality of buds. Looks like they could be trimmed better too. Staff was friendly though including the security guy and the cute girl at the front desk. Budtender seemed very knowledgeable and was friendly. Some of the information on here is a bit misleading though as I was charged with sales tax and was told I would have to bring my original Dr's recommendation in every time. Even with the tax, the price isn't bad however as just about any gram will be under 20 bucks. I just hate having loose change in my pocket. Also the Dr. recommendation isn't really a big deal but I'd rather not be carrying that with me all the time. Judging from other reviews some people seem to like it so it's worth giving it a shot.

Another Class Club
Its Mr. Smooth from your local blues band Bluezz Stew again. As you know I dont give reviews unless a club really catches my attention. I have only recommended one other club Medicinal Gardens. But they are on the west side and I live on the north. But finally found a legit club here on the North with The Portal. The budtender didnt catch his name but is a great guy. Went there looking for a deal and came up a little short. Lets just say he took care of me and was much appreciated. They have quality buds and for that a premium price but worth it. They do have good deals as well which I went with a fat eighter of gdp budlets. Also got a spliff of green ribbon which am looking forward to trying out. In all if your looking for good quality medicine from a legit club then check these guys out.

Best little hole in the wall
The bud-tender is very nice and very knowledgeable. All he kept saying to me is, "we are here for you", which was nice to hear. I do not want to tell people what I bought from there because I want more of it and I do not want everyone to buy it all, but the quality there is top notch. A little pricy but worth it for the quality. Also if you do not like the pre package, the bud-tender will make you a new whatever you want and you can pick out the buds. The bud tender did that for me and he let me motor boat the bag. (I didnt touch the stuff) but I got a good wiff of it. This place is a good place to go!

My new club
3 words: Honey Bud Oilers. Pre rolled top shelf bud double dipped in honey hash oil. As long as they carry these consider me a loyal customer. Their top shelf looks bomb and the staff is cool. The budtender had a answer for every question I had and the girl at the desk was cute. My first time being there and it already felt familiar. Mos definately commin back.
