From combat to marijuana processing — veteran corners the CBD market

Medical Marijuana Posted Aug 1 2018

CBD has become one of the most popular new treatments around the U.S. for a growing list of ailments and one combat veteran has taken it into his own hands to start a business that processes the compound for new hemp farms. In less than two years Craig Henderson went from selling CBD-infused products from his garage to becoming a multimillion dollar company with under 30 employees. After being deemed safe by both the World Health Organization and the FDA earlier this year the application and demand for CBD has only gotten larger. Henderson's company, Extract Labs has opened it's second store in Louisville, KY and begun selling CBD-infused pet products and the owners have been extremely pleased with the relief it brings their dogs. Henderson enjoys educating others about the many benefits of CBD including it's anti-inflammatory and homeostasis qualities and the fact it has more antioxidants than green tea.

Declared safe to use earlier this year by the World Health Organization, CBD’s growing list of benefits include helping individuals who struggle with insomnia, depression, anxiety and epileptic seizures, all common characteristics of post-traumatic stress disorder or traumatic brain injury.

Henderson, an Army infantry veteran who saw combat in Iraq in 2004 and 2005 while part of 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, began taking an interest in CBD, a non-psychoactive chemical, as he was finishing up his engineering master’s at the University of Louisville.
