Oakland County gets first licensed medical marijuana business

Michigan's medical marijuana industry has faced many hurdles but it's finally approaching it's deadline of Oct. 31 to either close your doors or get your state issued medical marijuana license. This year the state has approved 29 dispensaries and several other marijuana business licenses however there are still some pushing their applications to the last minute. This week alone 10 marijuana business licenses were approved for Oakland County, Kalamazoo, Adrian, Bay City, Vassar, Ypsilanti, Mount Morris and Detroit. But despite being ready to open their doors, fully regulated product is not ready yet. The new medical cannabis product must finish being grown, processed and then tested before it can make it's way into the new dispensaries inventories.

“I’m ready to go, but there’s no product yet. I want to make sure that I have consistent supply at a fair price,” he said. “But it’s a huge relief to get the license. This has been one of the hardest things I’ve been through in my life.”
