ResponsibleOhio pitches marijuana legalization during GOP debate

Published on 8/5/15

During the recent republican debate, the group ResponsibleOhio took advantage of the opportunity to reach a massive amount of viewers with a TV ad. Through the night, the ad ran 5 times and simply stated, "I'm sure you're heard about the ballot issue to legalize marijuana [...] go to ResponsibleOhio.com and get the facts."  Their website hosted 6 videos hoping to educate and sway voters for the hopeful upcoming ballot vote. If passed, the law would allow adults over the age of 21 to possess up to 1 ounce of marijuana, and taxes would go to local government, drug abuse and addiction treatment.

"This video series outlines why it's time for marijuana legalization in our state," ResponsibleOhio spokeswoman Faith Oltman said in a statement. "We're no longer willing to surrender our streets to drug dealers, and we're excited about the positive outcomes legalization will provide -- compassionate health care, new jobs and businesses and money back to our communities. We know Ohioans are excited too, and we look forward to having a conversation with voters about legalization in our state."
