As its name and nickname suggest, this Michigan town is crazy about its trees. If you’re looking to enjoy an area in the city that showcases this feature to the absolute max, look no further than Eberwhite. 

This beautiful, scenic neighborhood is filled with parks and other green outdoor spaces; all centered around the Eberwhite Woods. This massive forest is filled to the brim with oak, hickory, and an enormous assortment of other trees to enjoy. This space attracts many animals, perfect for bird watchers or animal lovers who love spending their time in the wonders of nature. 

Aside from the beautiful greenery, the architecture in this part of town is also to die for. Full of eye-catching houses and buildings that blend the classic aesthetics of the part seamlessly with today’s modern world, there’s eye candy for everyone around this beautiful part of town.
We highly recommend enjoying yourself and taking a walk through this part of town to, at the very least, check out the Eberwhite Woods! 

University of Michigan

Located in the heart of the campus, right next to Tappen Hall, the University of Michigan Museum of Art is a must-visit if you spend any type of time in Ann Arbor. Featuring massive collections of African, Asian, Modern, Contemporary, and a few other different styles of art and an incredible selection of rotating exhibits, there’s no denying that this museum is the real deal. 

The UMMA is free for everyone, open every day aside from Monday, and requires no reservation. It’s a great cost-effective way to enjoy a wide variety of art in one place. We highly recommend stopping in and seeing what this staple of the university and the surrounding community offers!

Matthaei Botanical Gardens

Another staple located on the university's campus, the botanical gardens are one of the best places to enjoy the incredible natural sights, sounds, and scents that Ann Arbor has to offer. 

From its lush green gardens to the winding walking trails to the beautifully manicured patches of grass, trees, and standing artwork throughout the Nichols Arboretum, it’s a perfect choice to visit any time of the year! In our opinion, however, the best displays are usually during the spring, summer, and fall.
Admission into the gardens is free and hours vary based on the season, so check their website and figure out when it is best for you and your group to stop in. It’s a gorgeous, natural place that’s perfect for all ages, right in the heart of Ann Arbor! 

Gallup Park

Widely considered by locals to be Ann Arbor’s answer to NYC’s Central Park, Gallup Park is an excellent time for pretty much anyone and everyone! 

Named after the city’s long-time parks superintendent Eli Gallup, this incredible 69-acre gorgeous green park stands firmly as one of Ann Arbor’s most popular recreational areas. Packed with scenic walkways, free wifi, and bridges linking little islands over waterways, you won’t want to miss this. 

On top of the on-land activities, there’s plenty for folks who love water to enjoy. Whether it’s paddle boarding or boating, those who have their sea legs can feel free to enjoy all the many waterways that the Great Lakes state has to offer!

If you’re looking to pick up some locally sourced products that are about as fresh as it gets, you can’t go wrong with this local market. While it might be a little bit pricey since all of the products are locally sourced, it’s a cost well worth paying for supporting local small farmers and content producers.


Kerrytown Market & Shops

If you’re looking for a gorgeous outdoor shopping complex full of trendy shops in the heart of Ann Arbor, then the Kerrytown Market should be your first stop if you’re looking to splash the cash. 

Named after County Kerry, Ireland, in honor of the Irish settlers who initially laid the foundation for Ann Arbor. Converted into what they are today in the late 1960s,  these buildings keep the timeless appeal of the outer brick walls of the original buildings. Today, the shopping center is home to Ann Arbor staples like Zingerman’s Deli, the Ann Arbor Farmers’ Market, Kerrytown Concert House, Braun Court, the Ann Arbor Artisans’ Market, antique stores, and more.

Simply put, it’s a lot of fun that offers a massive selection of specialty markets, unique gift shops, and delicious restaurants and eateries. We highly recommend this shopping center!
