Nevada marijuana testing rules stifle supplies

Nevada has been slow to implement their medical marijuana businesses due to lack of marijuana supply. Not only does it take months to properly grow, harvest, and prepare for sale, but with the state's new testing program, the labs are throwing away a lot of crop that doesn't meet standards for pesticides, mycotoxins or heavy metals. The demand for pot that is only of the highest quality has grown, but this also brings premium pricing and even less supply to go around.
DB Labs director Savino Sguera and says his Las Vegas office conducts eight tests to find mold, fungus, fertilizer or bacteria in the medicine.
Regulators and industry representatives are meeting periodically to update requirements and expand the list of banned pesticides as needed.
