Former sheriff plans push to legalize marijuana in Maine

This former sheriff has submitted a bill that would legalize recreational marijuana in Maine, tax it at 15% and allow sale to adults over 21. This is great news, and hes not the only one trying to push legal marijuana in Maine. There are several other bills being proposed to tax and regulate marijuana like alcohol, many of which the final language is still being finished, but the plan to allow up to an ounce in possession, home grown plants, and regulated dispensaries seems apparent.

“I hope the Legislature does the right thing and realizes that the chaos that is happening (with multiple proposals) doesn’t need to be there,” she said. “If anything, I think the number of ways that legalization has come forward is indicative of just how ready Maine is to move forward on this.”
