Because medical marijuana was approved by voter referendum, and these measures will amend the constitution, it will take a 3/4ths majority in the legislature to approve them.

Michigan bill to amend medical marijuana lawSeveral new bills are working their way thru the Michigan House that would add restrictions and clarify the state’s medical marijuana law. One bill requires the transport of medical marijuana in a vehicle’s locked trunk.  Another bill would define a bona-fide patient/doctor relationship, and another bans caregivers from having certain felonies on their records. One proposal would permit outdoor growing operations if they are screened so the plants can’t be seen. Another bill would require that the patient or caregiver’s picture be added to the Medical Marijuana card, and that they be issued for two years instead of one.
