House rejects proposal to let VA doctors recommend medical marijuana

Published on 5/1/15

This week the House of Representatives failed to pass a law allowing VA doctors to discuss and prescribe medical marijuana to soldiers.  The vote barely failed at 210-213 with only 35 republicans in favor of the bill.  Nearly 30% of all veterans returning from Iraq or Afghanistan develop PTSD or depression, yet the failure to pass this bill shows many congressman are not willing to let doctors and veterans decide the best medicine for themselves.

"It is criminal that we send our men and women off to war where their minds and bodies are broken and then deny them the ability to obtain a recommendation from a legitimate VA doctor upon their return home," Rohrabacher added.
