
Texas Committee Rejects 3 Bills to Reduce Marijuana Penalties

Recently, Texas has seen 3 bills that would reduce penalties for marijuana possession to no longer include jail time or a criminal record... until this Friday when all 3 were turned down. Legislators say one of the bills has a chance to be revived before the end of the legislative session, giving many supporters hope. However, Texas marijuana advocates are hoping more for a different bill in progress that would effectively legalize marijuana just like any other crop.
“I’m hopeful that there will be a possibility to resuscitate it this session,” Moody said Friday, adding that an additional hearing could also address some potential issues that were called to his attention by committee members
