While most industries are known to be dominated by men, the cannabis industry has shown to be more open and inviting to women as 36% of marijuana business executives are female compared to the 22% nationally. Women from allover the US are joining the cannabis industry in hopes of less descrimination and they're finding it. Salwa Ibrahim is one example of a woman who saw the chance and jumped at starting a dispensary in california. Since then her business has added cultivation and production facilities, serves up to 1,000 patients daily, and employs 70 people, over half of which are women.

"There is nothing but opportunity for women in this industry. We need to spread the word," said West. "Women are coming up with terrific business ideas. Many of them are driven by their advocacy for legal marijuana."
