What was once a whaling capital of the states has turned into an ocean-centric community that thrives on history and its relationship to the sea. In addition to everything else New Bedford has going for it, the city will soon provide several recreational dispensaries. Massachusetts may have legalized recreational marijuana back in 2016 and medical marijuana in 2012, but many parts of the state, including New Bedford, have been slow to implement effective policies for allowing dispensaries. Fortunately, things are changing in New Bedford, and the city should soon see three new recreational dispensaries opening. In the meantime, while it is illegal to drive while under the influence or smoke in public, it is legal to purchase marijuana at dispensaries in nearby cities to then transport it back to your residence in New Bedford.
