Located between Philly’s bustling Center City and the Delaware River, Old City is one of America’s first fully developed neighborhoods. Still lined with cobblestone streets and colonial architecture, Old City is the perfect area for a long walk through American history, with plenty of small alleyways and restored 18th century homes. Old City is home to a number of history-focused museums and visitors centers, but more adventurous tourists can get just as much entertainment and education from wandering the neighborhoods perfectly gridded streets and reading the city’s expertly curated streetside historical markers denoting landmarks like America’s first hospital, fire department, and the country’s very first residential street. West Philly

Not just the birthplace of the Fresh Prince, West Philly is a lively neighborhood full of tree-lined streets, gorgeous parks, and tight-knit community. Home to three of the nation’s top universities and decades of social activism, it’s not uncommon to get a whiff of the sweet leaf while passing through the Drexel quad or taking a stroll in Clark Park. Shopping and restaurants extend down Baltimore Avenue, where visitors can also get a look at the neighborhood’s picturesque Victorian homes.

Skate on the Delaware River

Two rivers run through Philadelphia, and when it comes to outdoor fun, being by the water is sure to bring smiles.
