Discover cannabis culture in Houston, TX

The fourth-largest city in America, Houston is an urban playground for anyone and everyone. Houston proper covers nearly 700 square miles, and the larger metroplex is even bigger, with each part of town just a little different than the rest. If you want clean and high-end living, check out The Heights. If you want counterculture and exciting nightlife, go visit Montrose. If you want endless attractions and people-watching, check out the Galleria and Museum Districts. Food trucks line the streets, hole-in-the-wall taco joints are some of the best in the nation, and the people are happy to be there. Texas is a big place, but Houston feels like its own state and it’s more than worth the visit. 

While Texas has historically been a very conservative state, marijuana may soon be another reason Houston is a great place to be. Currently, marijuana can only be used for a limited number of conditions (such as epilepsy) and the THC content cannot be higher than 0.5%. Many voters are in favor of legalization (and at least decriminalization), but any legalization has to go through legislation to pass, which is the hard part. You will not find any medical dispensaries in Texas, and the repercussions for being caught in possession of marijuana can be potentially steep. If you’re caught with less than 2 ounces, you will be facing a misdemeanor, up to 180 days in prison, and a max fine of $2,000. However, we’re hopeful this will change soon.
