Tucson is a southern Arizona city most likely to be known for the University of Arizona. The city is situated in a valley just south and west of the stunning Mount Lemmon and Mica Mountain. Between the mountains, the nearby desert Saguaro National Park, and the Tucson Mountain Park, there is no shortage of outdoor adventures to be had. Hiking, biking, camping, and rock climbing are all incredibly popular within the area, all of which are quickly and easily accessible from the city. Tucson’s downtown has been a constant cultural hub because of the nearby university, but recent years have seen it through an impressive revitalization – a vibrant nightlife, microbreweries, and some of the best Mexican food you’ve ever had is easy to find throughout this young, energetic city.
On top of everything else Tucson has, it also has a solid medical marijuana scene. In 2010, Arizona legalized medical marijuana, and in 2020, it legalized recreational marijuana with Proposition 207. While recreational marijuana won’t be available until after licenses are approved sometime in early 2021, Tucson’s medical marijuana infrastructure should make the transition to recreational access fairly easy. Tucson dispensaries are allowed to operate between the hours of 7 AM and 10 PM, and a few offer delivery to valid medical marijuana customers. When recreational marijuana becomes available, delivery services will not apply to adult-use sales. However, it is now legal for households to grow six marijuana plants per adult, with a maximum of 12 plants per household. Please note that, even with the new laws, it is still illegal to smoke in public or to drive while under the influence of any amount of marijuana.
