One of the biggest movements today is the idea of plant-based living, which is attempting to not only save our deteriorating planet but also to ensure that your body is receiving clean fuel. Vegan-everything is popping up at every single turn, as there are vegan deserts, cosmetic products and cafes that are only gaining popularity. Veganism isn't always approachable for everyone, but if you've been wanting to get creative with being plant-based and have wondered how to make edibles with weed look no further. Vegan edibles are perfect for anyone!
Decarboxylation
Unfortunately, you can't just throw your favorite strain of cannabis right into a recipe and feel all of those fun, tingly and psychoactive feelings that comes from weed. A process called decarboxylation needs to occur, which is where specific amounts of heat, time and light transform your weed into a cannabinoid you can feel. THCA is the precursor to THC, and through this process, there is a removal of a carboxyl ring, which then allows your body to absorb the transformed THC.
How to Make Edibles Properly: Dosing 101
Edibles are all fun and games until you get to this part of the process. This is not an exact science and there are so many factors to consider, so remember the golden rule of less is more. Dosing is so paramount because our body metabolizes edibles differently compared to smoking, creating a more potent and longer-lasting high. If you're doing things without a dosing calculator, here are a few tips. Knowing your THCA percentage is key and using a classic edible recipe that requires one ounce (28 grams) for every cup of butter or oil allows for smoother numbers. Remember, there is generally a 90% potency retention rate from THCA to THC.
