Located just north of New Mexico and on the historic Santa Fe trail, Trinidad is a small town but with plenty to do. To learn more about the city, we recommend visiting the Trinidad History Museum, which is inside the beautiful Bloom Mansion built in 1882. The museum is part of El Corazon de Trinidad, a historic part of town full of shops and restaurants. The Louden-Henritze Archaeology exhibit is also worth a visit to see dinosaur bones and local artifacts. Don’t miss Cartopia, a quirky art installation in town featuring old cars. If you’re looking for some natural scenery, be sure to visit the nearby Trinidad Lake State Park. While in town, you’ll also be able to check out one of the several dispensaries open to fulfill all of your cannabis needs.
Colorado’s marijuana industry has grown tremendously after the legalization of both medicinal use marijuana in 2000 and adult-use cannabis in 2012. Once recreational sales started in 2014, the state hasn’t looked back. While some towns in Colorado have chosen to ban the sales of cannabis, Trinidad has allowed them and the market continues to grow. Recreational consumers over the age of 21 may purchase up to 1 ounce of flower, 800mg of edibles or 8 grams of concentrates while MMJ users may purchase up to two ounces. Hours of operation may vary depending on the dispensary, so be sure to check out hours on the dispensary’s website.
