Located just outside of Detroit, Southfield is an up-and-coming suburb with plenty to do. When the weather is nice, head to Carpenter Lake Nature Preserve or Bauervic Woods Park for endless trails to explore. If you’re looking for something indoors, head to Park West Gallery to see beautiful contemporary art. If you have kids in tow, head to the Artic Ring of Life polar bear and seal exhibit to see some amazing animals. Southfield is just 20 minutes away from downtown Detroit, giving you plenty of options for additional activities.
While only medical marijuana patients may purchase marijuana within the city limits of Southfield, it’s perfectly legal for anyone over the age of 21 to buy marijuana from a nearby town such as Royal Oak and consume it in Southfield. When Michigan legalized cannabis for adult-use in 2018, Southfield decided to opt-out of sales. That being said, Michigan residents may legally grow up to 12 plants in their own home and can get delivery from nearby dispensaries outside of the town limits.
