Sitka, Alaska is a beautiful town located just outside Juneau on Baranof and Chichagof Islands. The town was actually originally part of Russia until 1867 and has plenty of history. While Sitka is small, there is plenty to do for everyone. Start your day off with a visit to the Sitka National Historic Park where you’ll find historical information about the area. Head to the Alaska Raptor Center next to see birds of prey rehabilitating. For more wildlife excitement, head to the Fortress of the Bear sanctuary to see beautiful brown and black bears. The St. Michael’s Orthodox Cathedral was built in the 1840s and is a beautiful look at this time period.
Although Sitka may have a population of less than 10,000 people, the cannabis scene in town is present and growing.
