On February 27, 2018, the Santa Barbara County Board passed ordinances that allowed the cultivation and distribution of marijuana within county limits. Since then, a large handful of dispensaries have built roots throughout the city. While California is often considered a marijuana capital, most of the counties don’t actually allow the commercial sale of weed, so it’s a big deal that Santa Barbara allowed this in 2018. The dispensaries generally operate between the hours of 10 AM and 8 PM, and most offer both medical and adult-use marijuana products. It is important to note that while Santa Barbara legalized the sale of marijuana, it is still illegal to use it in public or drive while under the influence.
