Found in Colorado’s Western Slope at the junction of the Colorado and Gunnison Rivers, Grand Junction is a popular destination for those looking to relax in the state’s natural beauty. For people who like to get adventurous, there are five different sections of James M. Robb Colorado River State Park to explore, a ton of different lakes, biking trails, wildlife and other recreational opportunities to enjoy. Also, a bit further west lies the red rocks and canyons of the Colorado National Monument. Best of all, Grand Junction is also home to Colorado’s Wine Country. With dozens of wineries and different tour options, you can even combine your loves and take a Biking Colorado Wine Country tour. Of course, the opportunities are endless in this western Colorado town to relax and explore.
Unlike the rest of Colorado, Grand Junction is one of the few cities to hold out on both medical and recreational marijuana sales. Because of this, marijuana laws are a bit stricter here than they would be in other parts of the state. Of course, possession of up to 1 ounce of marijuana is still legal in the state of Colorado for any adult over the age of 21 or anyone 18 and over with an MMJ card. Be sure not to use marijuana in public because it is illegal. Consumption should only happen on private property with the permission of the owner. Similarly, driving while high is subject to DUI charges under Colorado law.
