Found in the heart of California’s San Joaquin Valley, Fresno lies near the geographic center of California. Due to its location near the center of California, Fresno is just a quick trip out to several recreational areas: 60 miles south of Yosemite National Park, it often a landing point for those looking to explore. Likewise, Sierra National Forest is 40 miles away, Kings Canyon National Park is 60 miles and Sequoia National Park is just 75 miles away. Despite California voters passing Proposition 64 in November 2016, the City of Fresno’s marijuana laws did not allow for purchase or consumption of non-medical marijuana until late 2018. Let’s dive a little deeper into some of Fresno’s Weed laws, just to be safe for your next visit. First, under California’s Prop 64, adults 21 years and older can possess, transport, obtain or give away up to one ounce of marijuana to another adult. Anyone under the age of 21 must have a valid Medical Marijuana card to legally do the same. Additionally, it is illegal to smoke weed in public. In Fresno county particularly, it is illegal to plant, harvest, cultivate, dry or process outdoors on the grounds of a private residence in all zoning districts of Fresno County, to the fullest extent permitted by State law.
