Mount Saint Helens is just two hours south, and the Olympic National Park and Olympic National Forest are just across the Carr Inlet of the Puget Sound. Tacoma is a gateway to northwestern culture and stunning outdoor adventure.
Along with Colorado, Washington was the first state to legalize recreational marijuana in 2012. It has one of the highest cannabis tax revenues in the nation and embodies many of the cannabis industry’s best qualities. Tacoma is no different from the rest of the state. It is legal to purchase and use marijuana within the city, and there are dozens of dispensaries throughout Tacoma, most of which operate between the hours of 8 AM and 12 AM – Washington allows for dispensaries to remain open much longer than most other states. While the city is surrounded by national parks and forests, it is important to remember that marijuana is still federally illegal, and it is therefore prohibited to use weed within any public parks or forests.
