Aspen is famous for its beautiful mountain scenery, great skiing, top-notch food and scenic uptown. While the town is most well known for its winter sports at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, there is plenty to do year-round. The iconic Maroon Bells nearby is beautiful in the summertime and worth the shuttle trip from town. The John Denver Sanctuary in town is a beautiful garden remembering the famed singer. Be sure to check out the Aspen Art Museum for its astounding collection and rotating exhibits. If you’re looking for a shopping break or some good eats, the beautiful uptown has plenty of options. Furthermore, Aspen is home to a handful of dispensaries to choose from to get your cannabis fix in.
When Colorado first passed medical marijuana legalization in 2000, it helped set the foundation for a huge industry. Once the recreational marijuana market opened in 2014, the state hasn’t turned back. While some cities have chosen to close their doors to dispensaries, Aspen has welcomed them with open arms. Aspen is currently home to 7 dispensaries, and anyone over 21 or with a valid medical marijuana card may purchase marijuana. The city’s dispensaries vary in hours, so be sure to check your dispensary’s website before going. It should be noted that it is illegal to drive after consuming cannabis, so be sure to call an Uber or have a designated driver.
